Lord Krishna was born today, in more pious times. The ultimate God, Krishna means different to different people. For people in love, Krishna is an idol of love. For the knowledge-seeker, He is the knowledge. For the common man, he is the Bhagawad Gita. He is a messenger of love and peace and taught that the material and the spiritual world need not be mutually exclusive.
Devotees of Sri Krishna observe fast on today and recite his teachings renowned in the form of 'shlokas' in Bhagwad Gita. Janmashtami or Gokulashtami is celebrated with prayers, devotional renditions and offering of fruits and special prasadams to Lord Krishna. In some houses, a typical setting of 'Gokulam' is arranged with mud images of Devaki, Vasudeva with little Krishna perched in a basket on his head, a cow, besides other things related to Krishna's legends.

Krishna is my favourite - as a strategist and a character with a sharp intellect. with all his follies he is more human than the other gods. as the saying goes- do not question the ethics/ morality of his action, just appreciate the intent and enjoy the outcomes... and also since he is August born, I hope he is a Leo like me...Happy janmashtami to you ..
