On the stroke of midnight, a country came into life again as the British handed over the governance of India to the Indian leaders. It was on this historic date that Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime Minister of India, unfurled the Indian tricolour on the magnificent Red Fort, symbolically marking the end of the British colonial rule…
Now at the age of 60, India’s image is that of a resurgent, confident regional power racing to compete with China and the West. India’s economy is now 10th biggest in the world and a new middle class of up to 200 million has been created. The economy is currently growing about 9 percent a year. Though the country still faces huge problems like poverty, infrastructure, etc.. for today, let us bask in the glory of the nation that we love dearly, India - the cradle of civilization and culture.
