Don't!!
Thursday, August 31, 2006
Don't be afraid of tomorrow, for God has already been there.

Don't undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we are different that each of us is special.

Don't set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you.

Don't take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless.

Don't let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the future. By living your life one day at a time, you live all the days of your life.

Don't give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.

Don't be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect. It is this fragile thread that binds us to each together.

Don't run through life so fast that you forget not only where you've been, but also where you are going.

Don't be afraid to learn. Knowledge is weightless, a treasure you can always carry easily.

Don't use time or words carelessly. Neither can be retrieved. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savoured each step of the way.

**The quickest way to receive love is to give; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly; and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.

BACHAAAO!!
Wednesday, August 30, 2006
I just can’t seem to get rid of this annoying cold, I have been suffering from this nasty flu for the past four days and believe me, I have tried every trick in the book but nothing seems to work, even went to the extent of torturing myself with Vicks Vaporubs steam, but GGGRRrr yeh cold hai ki jaane ka naam hi nahi lethi.

I should have called in sick and caught up on some rest but have got shit loads to do, so really had no choice. All my lovely colleagues here are giving me those sympathetic looks saying you shouldn't be here, you must be in the bed, AAaarrghh tell me about it. I am feeling sooo tired and sleepy now, all I want to do is just doze off on my desk (yawns)...all these pills I am taking is making me more drowsy I guess (yawns)

Hey Bhagwan, Kahan ho aap?? On second thoughts maybe I should stop hassling you with these petty things and just let you take care of the vadde vadde problems in the world (yawns)

Never Give Up
Tuesday, August 29, 2006
Logon se sunaa hai, Kitaabon mein likhaa hai,
Sab ne yahi kahaa hai, sab ne yahi kahaa hai…

never_give_up
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man.
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you are hardest hit -
It's when things seem worse when you mustn't quit.

The harder you work, the luckier you get! More you work hard at achieving your goals, more chances are you will succeed. I personally become extremely motivated every time I read about an eminent personality who made a name for themselves in exceptionally difficult circumstances overcoming all the obstacles that came their way and achieved what they conceived as a far & invincible end.

The mantra that guarantees success is "Never Give Up". Never take your eyes off the ball, always give 100% of yourself till the last minute. The above picture and the beautiful thoughts depict this whole idea perfectly well and tell us much more!

Be Thankful!!
Friday, August 25, 2006
Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire,
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don't know something,
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times,
During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations,
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge,
Because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes,
They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you're tired and weary,
Because it means you've made a difference.

It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks.

Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
And they can become your blessings.

Chalo.. that’s my good deed done for today, arreh wahi tho, I just shared some wise learnings, didn’t I?? :)

friendship
“Fate chooses our relatives, we choose our friends”, remarked Jacques Delili.
Friendship is a cherished concept and great writers have been eloquent about it. “When friends have been timed and tested,….grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel”, said Shakespeare. Our epics and puranas are also flourished with stories of Friendship. As we grow up and form preferences, we develop our own definition of friendship. It is a very fragile relation and an absolutely unique relationship, strengthening with passage of time and withstanding all tests of time.

Good friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget. Friends mean a lot in everyone's life and play a vital role too. In the company of good friends, we can travel through life accompanied by laughter, love and warmth. Friends are stress busters, time spent with them uplifts mood, banishes the blues by pepping up our lives.

Some friends are for a lifetime, they weather life’s storm and keep pace with moving wheels of time, one such dear friend of mine is Sadiya, a true gemini gal with varied interests and with a heart of gold (make that in bold and caps, Bless her!!). Sadiya is flying to Canada tonight (vroom..vroom) to see her folks up there. Here’s wishing her a safe and happy journey. You will be sorely missed!! (sighs!!)

A silent prayer for her folks up there, may God give them enough strength to deal with all four of you.. hee hee ;)

Weekend - where are you??

Weekend

Humour aside, my deep condolences for the departed soul of the great Shehnai maestro, Ustad Bismillah Khan who passed away on Monday morning in Varanasi after a cardiac arrest. He was 91 and is the third classical musician after Pt Ravi Shankar and M S Subbalakshmi to be awarded the Bharath Ratna, the highest civilian honour in India. During his long and fruitful career as an artiste, Khan enthralled audiences at performances across the globe. He was honoured with the Sangeet Natak Akademi award, the Tansen award as well as the Padma Vibhushan.

The shehnai is one of the most popular musical instruments in Indian music and the gentle genius of Bismillah Khan is perhaps single handedly responsible for making Shehnai a famous classical instrument. It is played morning and evening at the time of prayer in most big temples, during holy festivals, and on all auspicious occasions. The sound of a shehnai fills the atmosphere with a soothing sweetness and sublime peace and hypnotizes the listeners. Traditionally used to play music during marriages, Shehnai is the counterpart of south indian nadaswaram.

May his soul rest in peace..

This poem was nominated for the best poem of 2005 in a national contest. A very touching poem written by an African kid!!

When I born, I Black,
When I grow up, I Black,
When I go in Sun, I Black,
When I scared, I Black,
When I sick, I Black,
And when I die, I still black..

And you White fella,
When you born, you Pink,
When you grow up, you White,
When you go in Sun, you Red,
When you cold, you Blue,
When you scared, you Yellow,
When you sick, you Green,
And when you die, you Gray..
And you calling me Colored?

This only highlights the fact that what we commonly perceive as being true is actually a mirage. We need to look deeper to find the real thing.

Quote of the Day -
By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.

You have given me another day, O God, untouched and new. I ask for you to renew me too. Forgive the many errors that I made yesterday and let me try again, dear God, to walk a little closer to you. But God, I am well aware that I can't make it on my own. Take my hand and hold it tight for I can't walk alone.

Thomas Edison was afraid of the dark.

Henry Ford once attempted to buy the Eiffel Tower and ship it back to the United States.

During your lifetime, you'll eat about 60,000 pounds of food, that's the weight of 6 elephants!

Women blink nearly twice as much as men!

Americans on average eat 18 acres of pizza every day!!!!

On average, 100 people choke to death on ballpoint pins each year!

A zebra is white with black stripes. Not the other way round.

The word "listen" contains the same letters as the word "silent".

A 'jiffy' is an actual unit of time for 1/100th of a second.

A hippopotamus can run faster than a man.

'Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia' is the fear of long words.

Phobatrivaphobia is a fear of trivia about phobias!!

The names of the continents all end with the same letter with which they start.

"Almost" is the longest word in the English language with all the letters in alphabetical order.

Twenty-Four-Karat Gold is not pure gold since there is a small amount of copper in it. Absolutely pure gold is so soft that it can be molded with the hands.

Do you know the names of the three wise monkeys? They are: Mizaru (See no evil), Mikazaru (Hear no evil), and Mazaru (Say no evil ).

Happy Janmashtami!!

1001BabyKrishnaVishnu
Lord Krishna was born today, in more pious times. The ultimate God, Krishna means different to different people. For people in love, Krishna is an idol of love. For the knowledge-seeker, He is the knowledge. For the common man, he is the Bhagawad Gita. He is a messenger of love and peace and taught that the material and the spiritual world need not be mutually exclusive.

Devotees of Sri Krishna observe fast on today and recite his teachings renowned in the form of 'shlokas' in Bhagwad Gita. Janmashtami or Gokulashtami is celebrated with prayers, devotional renditions and offering of fruits and special prasadams to Lord Krishna. In some houses, a typical setting of 'Gokulam' is arranged with mud images of Devaki, Vasudeva with little Krishna perched in a basket on his head, a cow, besides other things related to Krishna's legends.

Be Happy Always and do your job as best as you can! May there always be peace on earth - Jai Sri Krishna!!

Lets celebrate 59 years of Independence..
Tuesday, August 15, 2006
IndianFlag1
Today is an occasion to celebrate the freedom of our great democracy while we remember with great reverence the sacrifice that thousands of our brave countrymen gave for this cause.

Away from home, India's Independence Day evokes many memories of excitement from the past, all the once-familiar sights of the flags being unfolded and the rendering of the national anthem accompanying each unfurling. Although we have left India, for many of us, our roots remain soaked in saffron, white and green.

I salute with gratitude, all the great people who sacrificed their lives for our country. The patriotic tone of this melodious song by Lata Mangeshkar still carries me away.

Ai mere vatan ke logon
tum khoob lagaa lo naaraa
ye shubh din hai ham sab kaa
laharaa lo tirangaa pyaaraa
par mat bhoolo seema par
veeron ne hai praan ganvaae
kuchh yaad unhen bhii karlo
jo laut ke ghar na aaye

Ai mere vatan ke logon
zaraa aankh mein bhar lo paani
jo shaheed hue hain unki
zaraa yaad karo qurbaani

jai hind... jai hind ki senaa
jai hind, jai hind, jai hind

Mood: Weekend is just around the corner, so what do you think?(wink, wink)
Reading: As the Crow Flies by Jeffrey Archer.
Listening to: Dil hoom hoom kare, ghabraaye....
No words can do justice to the beauty of this song, sung by Lata Mangeshkar for the Film Rudali. Long forgotten...it pierces the soul. An immortal tune that evokes a million emotions.
Thought for the day: Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. Was it worth it?

Life's Tug Of War..
Thursday, August 10, 2006
Life can seem ungrateful - and not always kind.
Life can pull at your heartstrings - and play with your mind.
Life can be blissful - and happy and free.
Life can put beauty - in the things that you see.
Life can place challenges - right at your feet.
Life can make good - of the hardships that we meet.
Life can overwhelm you - and make your head spin.
Life can reward those - determined to win.
Life can be hurtful - and not always fair.
Life can surround you - with people who care.
Life clearly does offer - its ups and its downs.
Life's days can bring you - both smiles and frowns.
Life teaches us to take - the good with the bad.
Life is a mixture - of happy and sad.

So.....

Take the life that you have - and give it your best.
Think positive, be happy - let God do the rest.
Take the challenges - that life has laid at your feet.
Take pride and be thankful - for each one you meet.
To yourself give forgiveness - if you stumble and fall.
Take each day that you face - and give it your all.
Take the love that you're given - and return it with care.
Have faith that when needed - it will always be there.
Take time to find the beauty - in the things that you see.
Take life's simple pleasures - let them set your heart free.
The idea here is simply - to even the score.
As you are met and faced with - Life's Tug Of War.

Rakshabandhan!!
Wednesday, August 09, 2006
Behna ne bhaai ki kalaai se pyaar baandha hai,
pyaar ke do taar se, sansaar baandha hai
resham ki dori se, resham ki dori se sansaar baandha hai..
Raakhi
Rakhi is the celebration of the bond between brothers and sisters.

As for every relation there is a significant importance whether it is in a family, friends or even at your work place...!!! We all have a way to thank and maintain the relationships in its own way, giving its right importance to it. Some how Brother-Sister relation is something more than a friend or colleague relationship... Our brothers and sisters are there with us right
from the dawn of our personal stories to the inevitable dusk, you grow up life long with them sharing all the good, bad and the ugly part of life together...!!!

No matter how much we bitch, moan and complain about siblings we know they'll always be there for us. In these times of nuclear families scattered around the world, I consider myself lucky to have my brother live just around the corner from us and glad of the fact that I see him soo very often. I really think that the bond between siblings is one of the strongest you can have...at least I know it is for us.

I have bought Rakhi for my brother and Venu received his in mail from his sis in India, have you got urs??

Happy Rakshabandhan to All Brothers & Sisters...:)

Lets hear it from Homer Simpson -
Tuesday, August 08, 2006

All right, brain, I don't like you and you don't like me - so let's just do this and I'll get back to killing you with beer.

I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me Superman.

You tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is 'never try'!

If you really want something in this life you have to work for it. Now quiet, they're about to announce the lottery numbers.

Son, when you participate in sporting events, its not whether you win or loose, its how drunk you get.

The answers to life's problems aren't at the bottom of a bottle, they're on TV!

Marge, it takes two to lie. One to lie and one to listen.

Beer - Now there's a temporary solution.

I have feelings too - like 'My stomach hurts' or 'I'm going crazy!

What's the point of going out, we're just going to end up back here anyway?

You can't keep blaming yourself. Just blame yourself once, and move on. :))

The Weekend!
Monday, August 07, 2006
Had a gr8 weekend and a BUZZY one may I add..what did I do?, you ask..
watched two movies on Saturday -
went to Village Sky city cinemas at St Lukes to watch the Wicked, Over the Hedge..
Over the hedge
Remember the phrase "Not in my backyard?" Well, not this time. That’s exactly where Over The Hedge takes place. The movie is a charming tale filled with fantastic characters who will make you chuckle and feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It’s a simple story made special by the charcters. The dialogues are sharp, especially as Raccoon pointing to a gas-guzzling four wheeler, tells the innocent tribe(a cautious tortoise, a porcupine family, a possum father and daughter, a glamourous lady skunk and a hyperactive squirrel) "Humans ride in them because they are slowly losing their ability to walk." and he also educates them saying we animals eat to live where as the humans live to eat....Hee Hee

The raccoon (voiced by Bruce Willis), a wily rodent always on the lookout for the main chance and when he gets a shot at snaffling Vincent the bear’s huge stash of hibernation grub, what happens? He blows it. And Vincent insists on some serious reparation, within a week - or the raccoon gets it. Raccoon is biting his claws and tearing out his fur until he discovers an innocent band of just-out-of-hibernation furry folk. Under the raccoon's leadership, the animals go "over the hedge" (well, more like through it, actually) into the big, nasty human world to bring back all the junk food they can find.

Top talent, all may I add. they’ll make you laugh. One of the best animated film,so don't miss it

The second flick - 36 China Town
china town
Things I hate about Hindi Music currently ..
1. Himesh Reshamaiyya
2. Himesh Reshamaiyya
3. Himesh Reshamaiyya.

There’s nothing much to crow about this movie, neither there is anything to laugh about, but yes, there is certainly something to cry about - I want my 4 dollars back...

The movie begins with the murder of Mrs Sonia Chang, yeah she is a Indian and owns a mansion and a casino. However, before the murder, Shahid & Kareena Kapoor happen to chance upon the kidnapped baby of Mrs Chang. The baby apparently has a tag of a few lakhs attached to it. So a glamour starved Shahid and a runaway Kareena decide to give the baby back to Mrs Chang and collect the booty. And they thus stumble upon the dead body of Mrs Chang. It seems that others too had visited the mansion and stumbled on a dead Mrs Chang and left a lot of clues for the police ( Akshayee Khanna )to point the needle of suspicion in their direction. So two fat men(Paresh Rawal and Johnny Lever) with their pretty wives, Shahid & Kareena, a flirt in the casino – Upen Patel and a drunkard apart from others are in the hot-list of suspects.

There are enough efforts at trying to make people laugh. Some of it is worth a guffaw or two but however the movie lacks in vigour and strength. Akshayee Khanna disappoints as a police inspector and Upen Patel as a stand-in flirt.

So then the big question is, who’d murdered Mrs Chang ? Was it Johnny Lever & Co who carry the dead body in a suitcase thinking its loaded with money? Or is it Paresh Rawal who’s lost everything in one night-out at the casino or is it their jealous wives ? Or is it the drunkard that Shahid & Kareena meet on their way to Mrs Chang with her kidnapped boy , or is it Shahid & Kareena themselves ! ?

Sounds like an edge of the seat murder mystery !.. Well its not !

Sunday
We were invited to Aman & Ishi's B'day Party Lunch - Needless to say there was some great food, mouth-watering cakes etc. Relished the food in great company and ofcourse giving in to greed and unable to resist, listening to my tummy indulged in generous helpings..*Gee!* Life is too short to miss out on all the goodness *especially the good food!!! ;)* Wot say?!

Perfect Morning!
Friday, August 04, 2006
mood
Now that we are stuck on the topic of moods, Venu and me were having a conversation this morning on the way to work as to how you embrace the morning really sets the scene for the whole day and that made me thinking (ought to make the tiny grey cells working sometimes) What is a perfect morning?? hmmm (thinking..)

What kick starts a perfect day for me? Sun streaming through the window and softly waking me up. Venu waking me up with a steaming cup of coffee. Anu all ready by himself without me running around the house and yelling like a mad woman, aaram se we all having breakfast on the table. Kissing each other Good Bye's and Good Day's. Skipping the entire hustle bustle, zooming through green lights on the road without any traffic jams. All my favourite songs on Radio Tarana without any ad breaks. Reaching work to find my welcoming desk all neat and tidy and all my reports have run beautifully and there is no problem at all. Hmmm… wishful thinking?

Nice morning thought -
If God answers your prayer, He's increasing your faith.......
If He delays, He's increasing your Patience.......
If He doesn't answer, He Knows You Can Handle It.

Thoda sa Gyaan about Women!
Wednesday, August 02, 2006
wink
Women love to shop. It is the one area of the world where they feel like they're actually in control.

Women especially love a bargain. The question of "need" is irrelevant, so don't bother pointing it out. Anything on sale is fair game.

Women never have anything to wear. Don't question the racks of clothes in the closet; you "just don't understand".

Women need to cry. And they won't do it alone unless they know you can hear them.

Women will always ask questions that have no right answer, in an effort to trap you into feeling guilty.

Women love to talk. Silence intimidates them and they feel a need to fill it, even if they have nothing to say.

Women hate bugs. Even the strong-willed ones need a man around when there's a spider or a wasp involved.

Women can't keep secrets. They eat away at them from the inside. And they don't view it as being untrustworthy, providing they only tell two or three people.

Women always go to public restrooms in groups. It gives them a chance to gossip.

If a man goes on a seven-day trip, he'll pack five days worth of clothes and will wear some things twice; if a woman goes on a seven-day trip she'll pack 21 outfits because she doesn't know what she'll feel like wearing each day.

Women are never wrong. Apologizing is the man's responsibility, "It's there in the Bhagavad Gita".

The average number of items in a typical woman's bathroom is 137. A man would not be able to identify most of these items.

Women love to talk on the phone. A woman can visit her girlfriend for two weeks, and upon returning home, she will call the same friend and they will talk for three hours.

Women do NOT want an honest answer to the question, 'How do I look?'

"Oh, nothing," has an entirely different meaning in woman- language than it does in man- language.

If it is not Valentines day and you see a man in a flower shop, you can probably start up a conversation by asking, "What did you do?"

Women don't really care about a sense of humor in a guy despite claims to the contrary. You don't see women trampling over Tom Cruise to get to Gilbert Gottfried, do you?

Women will spend hours dressing up to go out, and then they'll go out and spend more time checking out other women. Men can never catch women checking out other men; women will always catch men checking out other women.

The most embarrassing thing for women is to find another woman wearing the same dress at a formal party.
